Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET)

Bristow Academy Inc., a division of Bristow Group Inc., has announced a joint venture agreement with Rotorworld Institute dba of Rotorworld LLC to offer Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET). The first eight-hour course was December 2, 2011, which includes two hours of classroom and six hours of practical instruction.

Demand for HUET training has increased in recent years as oil and gas companies move into deeper offshore waters and rely more on helicopter transportation to rigs and platforms. The joint venture agreement with Rotorworld brings together Rotorworld’s expertise in the highly specialized HUET training and Bristow Academy’s track record of successful experience-based programs developed by leading aviation educators and safety experts for the offshore oil and gas industry.

The Basic HUET course is for pilots, crew and passengers transported offshore or frequently flying over water in a helicopter or fixed wing aircraft.  It provides a basic introduction for learning how to escape safely from an aircraft underwater that has had an emergency landing over a body of water, whether it is offshore, a lake or even a flooded river.  In a controlled pool environment, attendees experience swim and tread water instruction and are trained in the use of emergency underwater breathing equipment during several fully supervised immersed “runs” in a single seat underwater egress simulator unit.  The training is provided at Bristow Academy's Titusville Campus in Titusville, Florida, although the unit is fully mobile and can be provided at any customer location.

Our mission is to provide excellence in aviation and specialized public safety training that is unsurpassed in the industry.
